Dive equipment
The most important piece of dive equipment is SCUBA equipment.
This allows a diver to breathe underwater. SCUBA life support consists
of a regulator and one or more diving cylinders. It can also include
a rebreather which is a closed circuit device.
Divers also use dive equipment for navigation and taking measurements.
A compass allows a diver to navigate. Other pieces of measurement equipment
include watches and dive computers.
Dive equipment also includes diving accessories. A camera with waterproof
housing allows a diver to take pictures while underwater. Some divers
feel safer bringing a knife to protect against underwater threats. However,
the chances of being attacked by an animal while diving are small, so
carrying a knife is not usually recommended.
