Scuba gear
What is the difference between scuba gear and scuba equipment?
Scuba gear typically refers to clothing and other items that are easily
moved. Having the right gear is essential for comfortable diving.
If you're diving in moderately cold water, the most essential gear is
your wetsuit. The wetsuit allows your body to maintain its heat at a
comfortable level during prolonged exposure to cold water. Typical thicknesses
are 3 mm, 5 mm and 7 mm.
In colder water you will also need a neoprene hood. This allows for
insulation of your head, like an extension of the wetsuit. Gear bags
are made so you can easily carry around these items between water and
land.
