Water skis
Water skis allow you to be pulled behind a boat by a tow
rope. They are the predecessors to wake boards. In fact, they have been
in use since 1922 when a clothesline was first used as a pull rope.
You can use water skis for trick skiing. Usually, the water skier will
start out sitting very low in the water as the towboat builds up speed.
Then, the skier has enough momentum to perform acts of agility similar
to the ones performed by a gymnast.
Another variation on trick skiing is slalom skiing. Here, instead of
using two water skis, the athlete only uses one. This is far more difficult
to perform and is even done in teams in tournaments.
